Camping Season's Cheese Burger is a favourite for our camping trips. Homemade with minced beef, paprika, onion, garlic and pickles. It's an easy meal that packs loads of flavour. Topped up with grilled onions, homemade spicy mayo, smoky ketchup, mature cheddar gherkins and lettuce. Can't beat an old school burger!
Ingredients
2-4 Beef Pattie
1 egg
English Mustard
Fresh Thyme
Dill Pickle
2-4 Brioche Buns
Lettuce Leaves
1 white Onion
Mature Cheddar Slices
Spicy Mayo
2 large dollops of Mayonnaise
1/4 pod of Camping Season's Hot Spice Blend (Coming to our store soon) OR use chilli powder.
A touch of English Mustard
Smoky Tomato Ketchup
2 large dollops of Tomato Ketchup
1/2 Camping Season's Smoky Spice Blend (Coming to our store soon) OR use smoked paprika
1/2 Pod of Black Pepper
Method
Step 1- To form your beef patties, grab a bowl add your mince, egg, chopped onion, garlic, fresh thyme and diced pickles with a dollop of english mustard, mix into a large ball incorporating you're seasonings and leave to rest while you make the grilled onion and your sauces.
Step 2- Heat a skillet and add oil when hot, in the meantime take half of your white onion and separate the layers to cook evenly, add your onions to the oil and stir frequently until they break down, add a pinch of salt and cook until they are loose and starting to brown.
Step 3- Whip up your sauces, grab 2 bowls in one squirt some mayo add a pinch of Camping Season's Hot spice blend and a little mustard to your tasting, give a good stir and your done. In the other bowl mix ketchup, Camping Season's Smoky spice blend and black pepper. your sauces are done- Slice your gherkin then separate your lettuce leaves for later.
Step 4- Turn on your heat to warm the pan, prior to adding oil to your pan cut your brioche buns and put them on a dry pan to toast them should take a few minutes to get a nice golden brown one side, and then flip them and brown the outer shells for a couple minutes.
Now add oil to the pan. Make 4 balls from your burger mix and flatten with your hand, a burger press or rolling pin. Cook your patties for up to 3 minutes on each side depending on how well done you like them. When you flip your pattie, add a slice of mature cheddar, turn and cover until the cheese melts.
Step 5- Time to assemble! Take your brioche halves and your smoky ketchup to the top half and your spicy mayo to the bottom, then add your lettuce leaves, your pattie, and then your gherkin and top with grilled onions add your top brioche half and you are done.
